I want to improve my public speaking skill, and I've given a lot of thoughts to join Toastmasters Club in New Delhi, India. But my speaking English, which isn't good, always creates a doubt in my mind.

Should I first improve my English, and then join Toastmasters?

I’m not sure how many Toastmasters clubs you have a choice of in New Delhi, but my recommendation if you have several of them, is to visit them first before joining. Every club has its own personality. Many, are quite used to helping members improve their English speaking skills, but it is not necessarily a given.

Toastmasters is a good place to practice and improve your communication skills, which would include your English speaking proficiency. Part of the secret is working with the VP of Education and sharing with them your desire to improve your English proficiency. It isn’t part of the regular club program, however working closely with your speech evaluators and a mentor, if the club has them, can certainly increase your success.

I would also suggest creating a learning plan, separate from the regular communication and leadership program, to continually challenge yourself.
