How much does it cost?

Currency DollarYou are encouraged to visit Kelowna Flying Solo Toastmasters as a guest on a couple occasions, at no charge, to see if it is what you want to make a commitment to do. As our Toastmasters program is a self-directed, self-paced one, your first commitment that we are asking you to make is to yourself. Are you ready to commit to challenging yourself in the Toastmasters program by making steady forward movement? Your fellow club members are there to help you, encourage you and to share in your successes.

The second commitment that we will ask you to make and keep is to your fellow Flying Solo Toastmasters club members. That means that we expect you to participate in the program to the best of your ability, to attend club meetings, as you are able, on a regular basis and to participate in the self-development of your fellow club members. The program works effectively on the principal of give and take. For everyone to benefit, everybody must contribute to the success of each and ever meeting. This means volunteering to take on meeting roles that challenge you, providing constructive feedback for your fellow members personal growth and delivering prepared speeches from our educational manuals on a regular basis.

The Toastmasters membership fee structure can seem a little confusing at first but this should help. As members we pay semi-annual dues i.e. in late March and late September. The current membership fee for continuing Kelowna Flying Solo Toastmasters members is $125.00 every six months.

The price for a new member to join is slightly more with an additional $35.00 added. This additional costs goes to Toastmasters International as a New Member fee. In turn, they will send you a New Member Kit which includes the educational program manuals i.e. the Competent Communicator and the Competent Leader manuals. In addition, they will send some other educational resource material. Your Toastmasters membership includes a monthly magazine from Toastmasters as well as insurance coverage while you are participating in Toastmasters activities.

Kelowna Flying Solo Toastmasters is a self-supporting club. From the membership dues that we collect, we pay for our meeting space rental fee as well as any additional expenses we incur in running a quality educational program. We are completely membership fee funded with some additional revenue being created by providing speech training or special Toastmaster-related events to the public.

As we pay our membership dues twice a year, as a new member, the rate you pay is prorated depending on which month you join in. The table below indicates the new membership fee schedule, month by month.
